Description

This is the main character in my novel, Hayln. Yes, I do my own fanart. Why? Because she is epic. And I think she's pretty so I want to draw her, though I do her no justice. I don't draw very often, so the idea of her pose is not very original, but it's still pretty and I hope I gave it its own flare.

Let me know what you think, okay? The actual drawing looks better on paper, for whatever reason my scanner does not pick up the shading well at all. Like the ends of her hair almost look red in the picture, then darker brown, then simply brown. Oh well.

Base I used as reference: [link]

EDIT: Actually when I first thought to look up bases was because I'd orignally searched for 'model poses' and 'poses' and several of them had 'base' in the title, and I was all "Awesome! It's so nice for people to post models for people to use for visual reference and give you ideas!". I'd been searching fashion catalouges but... blergh. Not much I liked. Yeah, well, I'm just learning that 'bases' are traces of original artowrk- expert pieces, and that no actual creativity goes into them.

Which kind of pisses me off. A lot. My drawing is my character in my art style, and I only looked for bases just to figure out what to doodle her doing. Artbooks have such models in them fairly often, just bald/nude forms to give you ideas or forms to practice. But 'bases'? If you use that, especially on the computer to alter and 'make your own', you're still cheating and no artistic effort really went into it. I completely hand drew mine, colored it, inked it and everything, and while my art is not great at least I didn't cheat.

Ugh. Now I'm all annoyed.
